National Bank of Malawi on Thursday, 9th November 2017 handed over two boreholes worth K8 million to Ndirande and Chichiri primary schools in Blantyre to improve health and sanitation at the two schools.

NBM Chief Executive Officer, Mcfussy Kawawa  said the Bank funded the drilling of the two boreholes after being approached by the Rotary Club of Blantyre.

"In keeping our philosophy of being the pride of the Nation, because we are the bank of the Nation, we are commited to playing our role towards resolving some of the challenges associated with inadequate water supply. companies in the country have a responsibility towards our students and pupils. bringing clean water to Chichiri and Ndirande primary schools is just one example of being socially responsible. we hope others will emulate this gesture." Kawawa said

NBM also presented 40 Buckets, 20 for each school to enable the pupils clean their classrooms as well as watering flowers and grass around their classes so that they live in a green environment.

Blantyre city Mayor, Wild Ndipo hailed NBM and Rotary Club of Blantyre for the gesture." What you have done to our children at Chichiri and Ndirande is very commendable. How I wish there were many companies willing to assist in providing critical resources to our children in primary schools." Ndipo said

He said the boreholes have come at the right time considering the water challenges that the city is facing.
