National Bank of Malawi (NBM) on Friday (March 21,2014)presented three of the five 50 inch LED screens to winners of the just ended NBM Fiesta Save promotion..
Speaking at the presentations ceremony held at NBM Towers in Blantyre, NBM Head of Strategy, Business Information and Corporate Affairs Wilkins Mijiga thanked all those that participated in the promotion for positively responding to the promotion.
“As a bank, we want to promote the saving culture in the country and we are happy that many of our customers responded positively to this promotion,” said Mijiga.
NBM customers were asked to open fiesta save account and be making monthly deposits of K20, 000 to enter the competition.
But Mijiga announced that the fiesta Save accounts have now been turned into fully fledged savings accounts which will earn more interest by three percentage points than the normal savings accounts.
“The account holders of Fiesta save accounts will be allowed to make withdraws once a quarter and these withdraws will be done on the counter as this account will have no ATM card. The aim is to encourage the saving culture,” said Mijiga.
Out of the five winners of the TV screens, three turned up for the ceremony to receive their awards namely Kondwani Ron Nyaleye, Maikolo Masiye and Rajan Yaghesh. The other two Andrew Thomas Malemia and Micheal Malera were to collect their gifts from their Service Centres.
Nyaleye thanked NBM for introducing the promotion saying his prayers for a ‘big’ screen were answered by the bank.
“I will continue saving with the bank of the nation,” said Nyaleye.
The competition also saw three lucky winners get an all expenses paid trip to Brazil to watch the World cup in June this year.
Mijiga said they will present the air tickets to George Sambakunsi, Steve Joseph Ngaiyaye and Peter Mtambo as soon as it finishes all the logistics.
