National Bank of Malawi has donated 110 desks and chairs to Njewa Community Day Secondary School as a way of alleviating the school's problems of furniture. The bank's Head of Business Process Management, Brian Boby said the 55million kwacha worth of donation is aimed to enable the youth to attain education in a conducive environment.
"We all know what education and enlightenment can do to an individual or the nation. We all attained education to be where we are today in our lives. The nation relies on people who have the education to run all the key sectors of the state. Without education, we will all account to nothing." he said.
The school's headteacher, Mercy Chisamile, said the desks will promote attendance of learners especially girls who found it difficult to learn while sitting on the floor.
" I am sure that this is going to improve education by reducing absenteeism which is rampant among girls." She said.
