National Bank of Malawi plc has given K1million towards Economics association of Malawi (Ecama) Annual Lakeshore Conference slated for November 22 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

Speaking during the cheque presentation in Blantyre, the Head of Strategy, Marketing and Corporate affairs, Wilkins Mijiga said the bank recognizes the role that the economists play in the economy.

“For Ecama and other professional bodies to play the pivotal function, they need support; hence national bank of Malawi has donated this money.’’ He said.

In their remarks, Ecama vice president Lowina Mwasingala thanked the Malawi stock Exchange listed bank for financial support.

“We are excited that National Bank has partnered with us by sponsoring the conference. We have these conferences annually and this year we are holding it under the theme Current and Emerging Challenges towards Transformative, Inclusion and Sustainable Economic Growth.

“We are looking at economic governance and how best our economy can move forward to drive the energy and agriculture sectors and how best they can be financed’’ She said

Mwasingala said the conference aims at allowing participants to brainstorm and provide a deeper analysis of the structures of the economy and suggest practical and implementable solutions for sustainable economic development.
