National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Chief Executive Officer, Mcfussy Kawawa, has said the bank will continue supporting tertiary education institution in the country.

Kawawa made the remarks when the bank awarded nine best performing students at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST)in Thyolo district.

“We as National Bank, believe in a philosophy that if you educate a nation, there is always prosperity in future. Through these awards, we are hopeful of enhancing competition among the students who will be working hard in pursuance of the awards and through that, they would have acquired required knowledge.” Kawawa Said.

Kawawa further urged the students to work hard in their studies regardless of challenges they face.

MUST Vice Chancellor Address Malata commended NBM for the awards saying they motivate students to work hard.

“The initiative motivates other students to do well in class so that they may be recognized one day. You saw how other students who were present during the ceremony were reacting. They were so fascinated and I have no doubt that next year they will also work hard,” Malata said.

The bank also offers excellence awards to students in the universities such as Mzuzu University, University of Malawi and Lilongwe University of agriculture and Natural Resources.
