NBM Awards Brainy Students
National Bank of Malawi plc gave a total of K7 million to 16 best performing students in the constituent colleges of the University of Malawi (UNIMA).The funds are equivalent of the annual school tuition for the students.
The Bank, also donated K3 million kwacha to the University of Malawi Centre for Excellence, Ethics and Governance.
During the cheque presentation ceremony, at the Polytechnic Blantyre, NBM Chief Executive Officer Mcfussy Kawawa said the support was aimed at challenging the students to work hard and be innovative.
“We have been in partnership with the University of Malawi for 40 years and this has helped not only the bank but the nation at large.” Kawawa Said
The Polytechnic Principle, Prof Grant Kululanga said through the partnership, the institution has been able to support less privileged students.
“This is a great initiative and we implore other players in the corporate sector to emulate National Banks example by challenging the students.” Prof Kululanga Said
One of the awardees, a 19 year old Eneles Mponda thanked the Bank for the initiative.
