NBM Awards Best Students At MZUNI
National Bank of Malawi plc has invested K7.6 million towards scholarships and awarding of outstanding sudents at the Mzuzu University (Mzuni)
NBM Chief Executive Officer Mcfussy Kawawa said investing in education is a key component in developing the country
Kawawa challenged the awardees to focus on their education and refrain from erratic behaviour
“In the industry when we employ people, we find that there is an ingredient missing. Attitude is very important because that is what helps students deliver. So I was reminding the students to develop the right attitude apart from the skills acquired. Kawawa said
Mzuni Vice Chancellor, Prof John Kalenga Saka thanked the bank for the support
He said that an impasse that erupted at the school recently is being addressed.
“Our discussion with the staff and the students (on resolving the issue) are at an advanced stage. We need to sustain a conducive and secure learning environment and we shall resume classes anytime soon.’’ Saka said
One of the best student award recipient, a Level 4 student in the faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management Timson Zgambo said the assistance will help in molding the students.
13 students were awarded scholarships for annual tuition fees of K400,000 and the 6 best students received cash prizes of K400,000 and certificates
