National Bank of Malawi plc (NBM plc) wishes to advise the general public that it is prospecting to acquire a controlling stake in a financial institution outside Malawi, the outcome of which may affect the NBM plc share price.

Shareholders are therefore advised accordingly to exercise caution in dealing in their shares in the Company until a further announcement is made.
