National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has donated K2 million to the Association of Universities and Colleges in Malawi (Ucam) and another K2 million worth of text books to Chigoneka Community Day Secondary School.

The donation to Ucam is towards the association’s second International Conference on Higher education.

The bank presented the K2 million dummy cheque at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources campus on Saturday.

The two-day conference starts today.

Naturak Resources College Director Moses Chinyama said the conference will bring together various stakeholders to discuss issues of access to higher education, equity, gender and the impact of Covid pandemic on higher education.

NBM Lilongwe Gateway Service Centre Manager Tawina Malata said the bank values education sector.

The bank also donated 347 text books to Chigoneka CDSS as part of celebrating the International Father’s Day which was on June 20.

Chigoneka CDSS Head teacher Benaddetta Chikwere thanked the bank for the support.
