ecama donationNational Bank of Malawi plc has given K1million towards Economics association of Malawi (Ecama) Annual Lakeshore Conference slated for November 22 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

Speaking during the cheque presentation in Blantyre, the Head of Strategy, Marketing and Corporate affairs, Wilkins Mijiga said the bank recognizes the role that the economists play in the economy.

“For Ecama and other professional bodies to play the pivotal function, they need support; hence national bank of Malawi has donated this money.’’ He said.

MO626 Basketball Purse Doubled

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has doubled this year’s Mo626 College Basketball Sponsorship to K62 million from K30million last year.

This was announced during the launch of the 2018/19 tournament at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources Bunda Campus in Lilongwe.

NBM General Manager, Harold Jiya, said the bank was happy with the conduct of students in last year’s competition, hence the increment.

‘’As a demonstration of our pressure and commitment, the bank is pleased to announce the increase of its investments in the college basketball from 30 million to 62 million. This investment has been divided into k35 million to direct sponsorship into the tournaments activities and the balance (of K27million) into supporting activities of the tournament like advertising, brand activation and other logistics.’’

‘’We want to be part and parcel of the national development by promoting basketball. We want to help in the grooming of the country’s future citizens. We believe that when students engage in sports, they become proactive and this helps them to become good economic agents. Ultimately, they will be good customers for our bank.’’ he said

MO626 COLLEGE BASKETBALL RETURNS

National Bank of Malawi has announced that this year’s Mo626 Basketball will be launched on 3rd November in Lilongwe at Bunda College

The bank also hinted that the sponsorship of the tournament might be doubled from the current K30 million.

NBM Head of Strategy, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Wilkins Mijiga disclosed this at a press release that was held at NBM Towers.

“We are delightful to be back because this is a great partnership. Our return coincides with the Celebrations of Mo626 which has clocked 10 years and basketball is a platform to convey such message.”

NBM relocates Liwonde Branch

Malawi Stock Exchange listed National Bank Malawi (NBM) plc relocated its Liwonde Service Centre within Liwonde Township in Machinga district.

The Bank has moved from a rented building to a newly constructed building near Petroda Service station at Ntaja turn off. The members of staff rewarded the customers with various branded materials.

“I have enjoyed my transactions today. This is beautiful, the banking hall is spacious and modern with a working air conditioning system. I have been a customer since 2005 and today I thank the bank management for giving us this Service Centre.” Said one customer Henry Ndalama.

Malawi Stock Exchange listed National Bank of Malawi Plc presented cheques worth K3 million kwacha to the Institute of the Chartered Accountants in Malawi(ICAM) and Chartered Institute of Marketers(CIM) Malawi.

The funds have been pumped into lake conferences for the two institutions set for September 2018.

Jiya presents a prize to Ntaba

Rajiv Rawat and Deborah Ntaba on 19th August won the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Golf tournament in men’s and women’s categories respectively at Mulanje Golf Club.

Played on stable ford format, the over-subscribed tournament attracted a field of over 70 golfers who came as far as Lilongwe.

Playing 14 handicap (h/c) Rawat registered 40 points. iIncredibly, the other three came after the Thyolo based golfer tied on 39 points

The two, Felix Maulidi and Malawi’s Ambassador to Kuwait Wilfred Ali left with their spouses through Chileka Airport in Blantyre aboard a Malawian Airways flight.

Speaking after seeing off the winners, NBM Products Promotion Executive Muti Chibwana said the trip signifies the bank’s passion of nurturing a business relationship with its customers.

Tobacco farmers prefer NBM on proceeds

A recent report by the Tobacco Control Commission (TCC) has revealed that most tobacco farmers in the country prefer National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc to handle their proceeds from tobacco sales than any other bank.

In its recent statistics report for June 2018, TCC says NBM plc scored 27% followed by another commercial bank at 16% of the most preferred bank by the farmers to handle their proceeds.

NBM plc Corporate Affairs Manager Annie Magola was elated with the development and attributed this to many factors including the ‘Mlimi account’.
