Dwangwa golfers Chembar Nthakomwa and Chimwemwe Chavura made use of home advantage to be crowned winners of the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc celebratory golf tournament staged at the Kasasa Golf Club in Dwangwa at the weekend.

The golf tournament was organized as part of celebration events for the official opening of the bank’s 33rd service centre at Dwangwa on Friday evening.

Nthakomwa beat a field of 51 other golfers to be installed as men’s champion after posting a gross of 41 points and was followed by Ali Lazarous from Kasungu on the second position with 38 points after counting out Luku Sibale who claimed the third place.

Listed National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc Friday opened a magnificent service centre at Dwangwa in Nkhota-kota to bring the number of its service centres across the country to 33.

Speaking when he officially launched the centre, NBM plc Chief Executive Officer Macfussy Kawawa said the opening of Dwangwa Service Centre clearly demonstrates his company’s commitment in economic and financial development to all corners of the country.

“Dwangwa Service Centre is a fully-fledged service centre and is offering any services you require starting from enquiries, account opening, credit facilities and advisory services on how you can better manage your businesses including accounts,” said Kawawa.

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc on Saturday donated various medical items worth K3 million to Dwambazi Rural Hospital in Nkhota Kota.

Presenting the donation, NBM Chief Executive Officer Macfussy Kawawa said they decided to donate the medical items after realizing challenges that rural hospitals face in healthy delivery.

“The other reason why we also decided to make this donation is that we have just opened our new Dwangwa Service Centre and this is part of celebration of the opening of our new service centre. We also know that some of our customers and would be customers will be serviced by this hospital and as a Bank we want our customers to be healthy for the economy to improve,” said Kawawa.

NBM plc Chief Executive officer Macfussy Kawawa said this during the information and communications technology association of Malawi ICTAM annual lakeshore conference where the Malawi Stock exchange listed bank awarded the best ICT innovators.

Somewhere in the northern region of Malawi, there is a small village that lies in between mountains called Chingerezi Mithi in the Traditional Authority of Jalavikuwa in Mzimba District. In that village there is Kacheche Community Day Secondary School that caters for all young men and girls from the village and other surrounding villages. Being very far from the City of Mzuzu and Mzimba Boma, it is difficult for the learners to get what they need most to improve the quality of their education. The students lack basic items like writing materials, chalk, classroom cleaning materials among other small items. The school also relies on drawing water from the village borehole and often times, priority of drawing water is given to the villagers and not the school.

NBM INTERACTS WITH WOMEN, YOUTH ENTREPRENEURS IN MZUZU

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc says that lack of business information and failure to access finance and markets are among the challenges hindering women and youth entrepreneurs in the country.

NBM plc Chief Executive Officer, Mcfussy Kawawa said this at the weekend when the Malawi stock exchange listed firm interacted with women and youth entrepreneurs from the northern region on access to finance and business management skills, among other issues.

He said the bank has been organizing similar events with women and youth entrepreneurs to impact business information which would in turn boost their businesses.

The commercial city of Blantyre was painted blue as the country’s basketball fraternity descended on Polytechnic court to witness the launch of the 2019-2020 National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Mo626 College Basketball tournament on Saturday

The carnival started with a procession from the Bank’s Head office in Blantyre through Masauko Chipembere Highway to Polytechnic.

Members of the local basketball fraternity, led by the Basketball Association of Malawi (BASMAL) officials brought Blantyre to a standstill as they matched to the match venue while chanting and waving NBM banners and flyers.
